About Molly and Mia

dogs

Ah…. what family would not be complete without some furry little companions running about? Meet our own animal version of Laurel and Hardy!

Molly –  Our 7 year old  Terrier-Feist mix.  Adopted from the Newnan Coweta Shelter rescue program in 2004 by my brother, Randy.  She ended up at a kill shelter in early 2004 when they found her abanded as a one-year old puppy in an apartment in Macon, GA by her former owner.  I’m very thankful that NCSR saved her life . She’s truly a great dog although she was really scared for life by the incidents  during her early life.  She’s deathly afraid of thunder and loud noises (such as 4th of July fireworks) and strangers, especially men. Other than that, she’s a great companion, easy going and LOVES her bellyrubs and to eat….   she’s like a little pot-bellied pig with fur.

Special Powers: Pleading gaze, Squinty stealth, Iron gut, and Bottomless stomach
Aliases: Chunker, Fatty

doggiesMia — Our 8 year old Chihuahua-Italian grayhound mix. Adopted in 2006 from Newnan Coweta Shelter rescue as well, although I don’t have Mia’s extended backstory the same way I have Molly’s.  All I know is that Mia and her brother were found at a kill shelter in Athens, GA  and saved by NCSR.  Mia’s brother had been previously adopted out and I had adopted her after it was love at first sight.  She is truly the cutest and most loving dog ever, she’s extremely attached to me. Combine that with the loudest/most annoying barking and the stinkiest breath ever and you end up with Mia.  She essentially thinks she’s a high-strung pit bull in a 8-lb body and the designated neighborhood enforcer.

Special Powers: Deadly breath, Camouflage, Ear piercing bark, and Advance foraging training
Aliases: Diva, Princess

“Dogs are our link to paradise. They don’t know evil or jealousy or discontent. To sit with a dog on a hillside on a glorious afternoon is to be back in Eden, where doing nothing was not boring – it was peace.”

— Milan Kundera.
